I'm currently working with a London local authority that is looking to appoint an Assistant Policy Officer to support the development and delivery of its borough-wide Parking & Kerbside Strategy.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in policy, research, project support or programme delivery who is looking to develop their career within transport, parking, highways or public policy.

The Role

You'll work closely with the Senior Policy Officer, helping to shape and deliver a key strategic programme that will influence how parking, kerbside space, accessibility and transport priorities are managed across the borough.

The role combines policy development, research, stakeholder engagement, consultation support and programme coordination, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple workstreams and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting the development and drafting of the borough's Parking & Kerbside Strategy
Undertaking policy research and benchmarking exercises
Collecting, analysing and presenting data from a variety of sources
Preparing briefing notes, reports, presentations and policy documents
Supporting stakeholder engagement activities, workshops and consultation events
Maintaining project documentation including action logs, risk registers and programme records
Assisting with Equality Impact Assessments and ensuring inclusive policy development
Supporting governance processes, committee reports and member briefings
Monitoring programme milestones and supporting delivery against key objectives
Assisting with implementation planning, monitoring and evaluation activities

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have experience within a policy, project support, programme support or research environment and be comfortable working with data, stakeholders and written reports.

You'll have:

Experience supporting policy, strategy, research or project-based work
Strong analytical and research skills
Experience preparing reports, briefings and written documentation
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Experience coordinating meetings, workshops or stakeholder engagement activities
The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
An understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion principles

Desirable Experience
