Assistant M&E Quantity Surveyor

Bedfordshire

Our client is a well-established electrical contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality building services projects across the South East. As an Assistant M&E Quantity Surveyor you'll be joining their highly experienced commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career with a successful and growing contractor, working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors on a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.

Responsibilities
Assist with the commercial management of M&E projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Support the preparation of cost plans, valuations, variations and final accounts.
Measure and value completed works, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
Assist with the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including issuing enquiries and reviewing quotations.
Help manage subcontractor payments, applications and account reconciliations.
Monitor project costs, budgets and cash flow, reporting any commercial risks or opportunities.
Prepare and submit applications for payment and assist with client valuations.
Work closely with Project Managers and Site Teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
Assist in identifying and pricing variations, ensuring all changes are recorded and recovered.
Maintain accurate commercial documentation and support monthly cost reporting.
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors and the wider project team.
Support Senior Quantity Surveyors with the day-to-day commercial management of multiple projects. Requirements
Previous experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Assistant M&E Quantity Surveyor position.
Experience working within the M&E, building services or construction sector.
Understanding of commercial processes, including valuations, variations, subcontractor management and final accounts.
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
Confident communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Degree qualified (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline is desirable.
Eager to learn, develop and progress within a growing M&E contractor.
Full UK Driving Licence is desirable.
