Construction Health & Safety Advisor - Luton
We are working with a well-established contractor, based in Luton, that specialises in groundworks and civil engineering, who are looking to appoint an Assistant Health & Safety Advisor to join their team and be fully supported by a Health & Safety Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety professional looking to develop their career within the construction, working across a range of live groundworks, civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will have a NEBOSH qualification, ideally with a construction focus, and some previous experience within construction, groundworks or civil engineering environments would be highly desirable.
The Role
* Working closely with the wider Health & Safety team and operational management, you will help support the effective implementation of health and safety standards across live projects.
Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the Health & Safety team across groundworks and civil engineering projects.
*
Carrying out regular site inspections and safety audits.
*
Identifying hazards and assisting with risk assessments and method statements.
*
Supporting the development, review and implementation of RAMS.
*
Monitoring compliance with company policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
*
Assisting site teams with health and safety advice and guidance.
*
Supporting incident, accident and near-miss investigations.
*
Assisting with site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
*
Monitoring PPE, site controls and safe systems of work.
*
Maintaining accurate health and safety records and documentation.
*
Supporting the management of corrective actions and ensuring issues are followed through to completion.
*
Keeping up to date with relevant construction health and safety legislation and industry best practice.
About You
* We are looking for someone who is early in their Health & Safety career and is keen to develop their experience within a hands-on construction environment.
* Due to the site locations, it is essential you have a valid UK driving licence and access to a car.
You will ideally have:

NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent – essential.
*
NEBOSH Construction Certificate would be highly desirable.
*
Some previous experience within construction, groundworks, civil engineering or a related environment.
*
A genuine interest in developing a career in Health & Safety.
*
Good understanding of construction site risks and safe working practices.
*
Knowledge of risk assessments, method statements and site inspections.
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*
Good organisational and administrative skills.
*
The confidence to engage with site teams and challenge unsafe practices when required.
*
A proactive and practical approach to Health & Safety.
* A CSCS card, IOSH membership or additional construction-related Health & Safety qualifications would be advantageous.
