Description:

We are seeking a passionate and ambitious Assistant Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team, leading Teaching and Learning in a primary setting.

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the successful candidate will combine outstanding classroom practice with strategic leadership, inspiring staff, nurturing talent, and ensuring every pupil thrives.

What you’ll be doing as an Assistant Headteacher:

Lead by example through high-quality teaching while contributing to senior leadership and daily operational oversight, with a focus on the primary provision
Oversee curriculum planning, timetable development, and ensure a broad, balanced offer, including responsibility for primary provision and teaching and learning across the school
Analyse performance data to inform improvement strategies and drive progress across areas of responsibility
Maintain quality assurance and professional standards, including performance management, governance reporting, audits, and compliance requirements
Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring safeguarding practices are robust, current, and effectively implemented
Support pupil progress and review processes, working closely with the SENCO to plan, monitor, and evaluate individual programmes
Promote a positive school culture by inspiring staff, modelling values, and fostering strong relationships, collaboration, and high expectations
Lead staff development, including induction, CPD, appraisal, recruitment, and support for early career and unqualified teachers
Ensure accountability for the effectiveness of the primary provision, clearly defining roles and evaluating performance to improve outcomes
Work in partnership with parents, carers, and external agencies while contributing to strategic planning and efficient use of resources to support school improvement.
What we’re looking for:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant degree
Strong knowledge and experience of supporting pupils with SEN needs
Experience as a senior leader and line managing staff within a primary setting
Proven track record of leading change in a primary setting
Detailed knowledge of the national curriculum, exam specifications, and Ofsted frameworks
Excellent communication skills

Opened in 2015, Arc School Old Arley is an independent special day school situated within a rural village near Nuneaton, affording children and young people the opportunity to take part in a range of activities within the local community. Our school has a particular focus on taking learning outside the classroom into the grounds and community beyond and working in partnership with other organisations to enrich opportunities for children and young people.
