Assistant Fleet/ Transport Manager
£30,000 - £40,000 + Benefits + Training + Overtime

Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter or Engineer with a background in fleet maintenance, particularly in the construction or concrete industry? Do you have a passion for managing and optimizing fleet operations?

This company is looking for an assistant Fleet/Transport Manager with a background as a Mechanical Fitter or Engineer, preferably with hands-on experience in managing fleets and HGVs within the construction or concrete industry.

The successful candidate will assist in overseeing our fleet operations, ensuring optimal performance, maintenance, and compliance.

As the Assistant Fleet/Transport Manager you will play a crucial role in supporting the efficient management of our fleet operations.

This position requires a hands-on professional with a strong mechanical background and experience in heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

The Role:

Assist in the management and maintenance of a diverse fleet of HGVs, ensuring all vehicles are in optimal working condition.
Coordinate routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
Work closely with drivers and other team members to address mechanical issues promptly and effectively.
Monitor fleet performance, analyze data, and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
Support the Fleet/Transport Manager in scheduling, logistics planning, and resource allocation.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.

The Person:

Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Engineer, or similar role, specifically working on fleet/HGVs.
Background in the construction or concrete industry is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of HGV mechanical systems and maintenance procedures.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
Valid driver's license (HGV license preferred but not essential).
