Assistant Estimator – High-End Residential Refurbishment & Stonework
Location: North London
Sector: High-End Residential Refurbishment & Specialist Stonework
The Role
Our client is a specialist construction company based in North London, delivering high-end residential refurbishment projects and bespoke stonework packages across London. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an Assistant Estimator to join their pre-construction team.
The ideal candidate will already have estimating experience within the construction industry and be looking to develop their commercial and pre-construction skills within a specialist, high-quality environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with the preparation of accurate and competitive tenders for high-end residential refurbishment projects.
* Review drawings, specifications, schedules and other tender documentation.
* Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
* Assist with material and labour take-offs and pricing.
* Support the preparation of detailed cost plans and tender submissions.
* Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive prices.
* Assist Senior Estimators and the wider commercial team throughout the tender process.
* Maintain accurate estimating records and pricing databases.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients.
* Attend site visits and tender meetings when required.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Previous estimating experience within the construction industry is essential.
* Experience working for a main contractor, refurbishment contractor or specialist subcontractor.
* Ideally has exposure to high-end residential refurbishment, luxury residential or similarly high-spec construction projects.
* Confident reading construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
* Good understanding of construction methods, materials and build costs.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with estimating software.
* Ambitious and keen to progress their career within estimating and pre-construction.
