Are you an experienced Assistant Director – Commissioning, SEND & Transformation looking for an opportunity to lead one of the most significant transformation programmes in children's services?

Reporting directly to the Director of Commissioning for Transformation, you will take strategic responsibility for a complex SEND transformation agenda, leading a team of programme specialists and overseeing a transformation budget of approximately £2.5m. This is a high-profile role where your ability to drive change, influence stakeholders and deliver measurable improvements will be critical to success. If you thrive in politically sensitive environments and have a track record of leading large-scale transformation programmes, this Assistant Director opportunity could be the challenge you're looking for.

Your Role as Assistant Director – Commissioning, SEND & Transformation

Lead the delivery of a major SEND Transformation Programme and improvement agenda
• Drive cross-system change with education, health and key partner organisations
• Provide strategic leadership across complex transformation, commissioning and capital projects
• Ensure effective programme governance, management of risks, dependencies and outcomes
• Deliver sustainable improvements alongside cost containment and value for money initiatives
Your Previous Experience as an Assistant Director – Commissioning, SEND & Transformation

Significant senior leadership experience delivering large-scale transformation programmes
• Strong understanding of SEND, education, healthcare or local government environments
• Proven ability to engage senior stakeholders, elected members and partner organisations
• Experience balancing strategic leadership with operational delivery in complex settings
• Demonstrable success in programme management, performance improvement and organisational change
This Assistant Director role offers the opportunity to shape the future of services for children and young people while leading a high-impact transformation programme. As Assistant Director, you will work with senior leaders across multiple organisations, challenge the status quo and deliver sustainable improvements that make a real difference.
