Role: Assistant Data Cabling Engineer

Location: Redditch
Salary: up to £32,000 depending on experience
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Data Cabling Engineer to join an established and growing technology and engineering business.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with around 2 years’ experience within data cabling, structured cabling, networking or a similar environment, who is looking to further develop their technical skills and progress within the industry.

Working as part of an experienced engineering team, you will support the installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of data and network infrastructure across a variety of commercial and business sites.

Key Responsibilities for the Assistant Data Cabling Engineer:

* Assisting with the installation, testing and termination of copper and fibre cabling.

* Supporting the installation and commissioning of structured cabling and network infrastructure.

* Testing and certifying cabling using FLUKE testing equipment.

* Assisting with the installation, relocation and decommissioning of server racks and associated equipment.

* Identifying and helping to resolve cable faults and network issues.

* Assisting with the installation and commissioning of wireless network solutions.

* Supporting the installation and commissioning of IP security and CCTV systems.

* Working alongside experienced engineers on customer sites.

* Completing site surveys, audits and associated documentation.

* Completing timesheets, expenses and daily job reports accurately and on time.

* Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety at all times.

The ideal candidate will have:

* Ideally 2 years’ experience within data cabling, structured cabling, networking or a similar environment.

* Some hands-on experience with copper and fibre cabling.

* An understanding of cable testing and termination.

* FLUKE testing experience would be advantageous.

* Good practical and technical ability.

* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

* Good communication and organisational skills.

* A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop.

* CSCS/ECS Card would be advantageous.

* IPAF/PASMA certification would be beneficial.

* Asbestos Awareness, Working at Height and Manual Handling training would be advantageous.
