About the role
The Plaxton Court restaurant was remodelled in April 2023 and is open to residents and the public 7 days a week for lunches and for booking parties and events. It is set in the extra care community which consists of self-contained properties with residents who can choose whether to eat in the restaurant, in their own homes or elsewhere. The vibrant restaurant at Plaxton Court offers a multi choice, varied menu, which is nutritionally well balanced. Ingredients are locally sourced where possible, contributing to the sustainability of the wider community.
We are seeking an Assistant Chef to support our Catering Supervisor in the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen, ensuring our reputation for food quality is consistently maintained. You will use fresh, good quality ingredients which are locally sourced where possible, to prepare and cook delicious nutritional meals for residents and visitors.
There will be no split shifts or night work, this role is to work daytimes only and the hours are over 2.5 days per week.
About you
We are looking for someone who holds an appropriate catering qualification, and who has previous relevant catering experience. You will have working knowledge of Food Safety regulations and we would prefer a Food Safety Level 2 certificate: however, training can be given. Personable, friendly and a good communicator, you will be able to work as part of the team (and be the team supervisor when on shift) and understand financials and working to food cost budgets, although training will be given.
