Description:

As the Asset Strategy Director you'll be responsible to turn business vision and strategy into a deliverable implementation plan and develop the five-year price review submission for the Wholesale business. You will work closely with the Strategy and Regulation team to deliver technical and commercial submissions at the price review, benchmarking current and future performance, along with associated activities for success.

What you’ll be doing
As the Asset Strategy Director you’ll consider the core business objectives of our plan to be deliverable, investable, financeable and affordable.
Account will be taken through forward horizon scans, to drive innovative solutions and solve for challenges such as climate change, growth, resilience and changing customer requirements.

The plan will take account of different price controls and identify new mechanisms for funding and delivery.

Business strategies will be built in collaboration with Regulation, Capital Delivery and Operations that are aligned to long term goals and five-year performance objectives to meet the needs of stakeholders, customers, and communities.

Key Responsibilities:

Model business risk, opportunity and set business strategies to 2050 and beyond.
Develop risk and investment plans to support implementation of business strategies.
Development of timely submission of statutory plans, including the water resource management plan and the drainage and wastewater management plan.
Establish aligned asset strategies that deliver future regulatory outcomes and increase service resilience, adapt to climate change and take account of growth and future regulatory challenges.
Manage water & wastewater hydraulic modelling to enhance understanding of performance and capacity of the asset base and that support capital programme development.
Support development of PR29 and subsequent price reviews by setting a clear asset strategy. with robustly evidenced plans. This shall include any interim applications, submissions and determinations as required.
Ensure plans are in place to mitigate strategic risks and aligned with organisational risk tolerance.
Work with leaders across Thames Water to establish deliverable business plan for AMP9 that is aligned to the PR29 final determination.What you should bring to the role

Operated at a senior level within an asset management / strategic planning role, ideally within the utilities sector. 
Clear understanding and experience of delivering requirements for regulatory price review.
Demonstrable track record of leading strategic business development and change, leading business through several cycles of business planning and improvement. 
Work collaboratively across the business to communicate, develop and implement plans.
An inspiring leader, able to create and champion a clear direction and motivate others to follow and implement the change required to deliver the business outcomes.
Passionate about putting customers, communities and stakeholders first every day.
Degree level or equivalent appropriate professional body qualification.
Strong business skills and evidence of leading organisational change.
Strong commercial / financial track record developed within a multi-stakeholder and regulated environment is desirable.
Asset Management qualifications or prior experience is desirable.What’s in it for you?
