Description:

Assembly Fitter – Luton, Bedfordshire

As an Assembly Fitter, you will turn high-value precision parts into performance-critical pumps, electric motors, and sealed motor-pump units at the Luton plant. Your technical skill, attention to alignment, and meticulous record-keeping will directly decide whether a unit passes the test bed first time and remains bulletproof in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assemble advanced pumps, motors, and sealed units strictly to engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and approved work instructions.

* Achieve exact fit, alignment, clearances, and sealing to ensure all units pass dimensional, hydrostatic pressure, and functional checks without avoidable rework.

* Protect critical finished surfaces and maintain strict cleanliness protocols when preparing builds for assembly and hot testing.

* Spot fit, clearance, and assembly faults early. You will actively raise non-conformances and collaborate directly with engineering to resolve them before testing.

* Meticulously complete torque logs, build records, and component tracking so every unit can be audited seamlessly from parts to dispatch.

* Rebuild, revamp, and upgrade returned aftermarket equipment to the same rigorous standard as a brand-new manufacturer.

* Work safely with workshop lifting gear, calibrated tools, and heavy components, ensuring a clean and organised bay for the next shift.

What We Are Looking For:

* Time-Served Professional: A completed mechanical fitting apprenticeship (or equivalent proven time served on the tools).

* Proven hands-on experience in the mechanical assembly of pumps, electric motors, or similar precision rotating machinery.

* Ability to confidently interpret complex engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical procedures to hit tight stated tolerances.

* Experience completing formal quality records (torque logs, checklists) and a preference for raising non-conformances over working around errors.

* Proficient with workshop manual handling, strict lifting controls, and proper PPE utilisation.
