The service you will work in….

Hestia's Modern Slavery Response Service is the largest provider of support services to survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking in London and the South East. We use our trauma-informed approach to empower survivors to have access to support in areas such as health, education, legal support and housing. 

As Area Manager, you will work in partnership with the other Area Manager, the Change Manager, the Innovations Manager and the Director to ensure the highest standard of care of our service users. You will create a positive and enabling culture in the service, increasing quality assurance processes, and supporting the ongoing transformation project.  

A day in this role looks like….

As an Area Manager at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Modern Slavery Support service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

Strategic management - including positive contributions to Hestia's organisational strategy; improving service delivery; identifying new business opportunities; developing service specific policies and procedures and nurturing high-level strategic relationships with donors, NGOs and decision makers.

People management - including co-leading a large staff team; developing local managers; ensuring services are staffed in line with funding contracts; encouraging a coaching and mentor based culture and establishing clear expectations, objectives and standards for staff.

Delivering quality services - including leading the development of new projects; ensuring timely reporting and invoicing; regular management quality audits; developing services using a ‘co-productive' approach and monitoring performance against KPIs.

Housing management – including ensuring that all accommodation services are delivered to a high standard and in line with relevant legislation; providing a safe environment underpinned by trauma informed care and ensuring risk assessments and Health and Safety audits are carried out in line with organisational timeframes and procedures.

Management of resources - including planning the team budget; ensuring that income and expenditure are in line with projected figures; managing continuous growth of the service and operating within Hestia's financial policies and procedures to make best use of property, equipment, other assets and staff.

Administration and finance - ensuring financial records are accurate, meeting Hestia's Directorate's performance requirements and ensuring records are kept, that performance monitoring and reporting is carried out as required.

Taking part in the 'Senior on call' according to a rota.

Demonstrable knowledge of the issues and current challenges of Modern Slavery in London, United Kingdom and the wider context.

Demonstrable experience of managing complex services, local teams and Service Managers.

Demonstrable experience of managing the development and delivery of Care, housing, support, advocacy, health and community engagement services.

An understanding of the strategic environment in which modern slavery and support services are being delivered and the implications for the organisation.

Demonstrable experience of contract management and the management of complex budgets.

Working knowledge of the legal framework and best practice for the protection of vulnerable adults and children.

An understanding of the importance of an outcomes focused approach to the development and delivery of care, support and preventative services and commitment to continuous improvement of service.

Commitment to engaging with a change management process and understanding your role within this service.

Ability to manage diverse and conflicting demands of the post.

Ability to implement robust improvement plans for poor performing services and staff.

The ability to represent the organisation professionally at strategic meetings and develop strategic partnerships in each area.

Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
