Role: Apprentice Quantity Surveyor
Salary: £19,000 - £23,000 (Year 1)
Locations: Milton Keynes and Harefield with travel to London/South East sites

The Role:

Our Quantity Surveyors are critical to ensuring business operations are as cost-effective as possible and as an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor with Clancy, not only will you learn from the best in our Commercial teams, but we have also developed a bespoke rotational programme that will give you a full business overview.

Your business orientation will also include estimating, health and safety, finance, plant and other key business areas.

We are all about growing and developing our own talent, which is evidenced by a significant number of our commercial professionals and senior managers who started at grassroots, but now have MBAs, MScs, BScs, M/RICS, etc.

You will be putting your innovative problem-solving and communication skills to good use, as you learn how to ensure costs are controlled and profits are maximised, all without compromising a slick service that delights our clients.

Here are some of the things that you’ll get involved with…

Generating weekly revenue and cost reports

Controlling submissions of daily completed jobs

Producing ‘Schedule of Rates’

Reconciling Subcontractor costs and preparing payment certificates

Liaising with Operations and Planning to monitor job progress and scope changes

Reviewing scheme works to ensure targets are on track to be achieved

Pricing completed jobs for high volume works

Developing relationships with clients to reduce 'Work In Progress' days

Analysing of weekly and monthly cost and revenue data

What do you need?

We would like to offer this opportunity to someone with a Level 4 Construction Quantity Surveying Technician standard, or a HNC in Construction, with GCSE English and Maths at C/4 and above (or equivalent) or studying towards a Level 4 qualification in Construction.

Some experience working in the industry would be great, but an interest in the construction/utilities sector, an inquisitive nature, enthusiasm and willingness to get stuck in and learn, is far more important. You will also need a full and valid driving license.

In return, we will offer you....

A fully funded three-year programme via London South Bank University who deliver the apprenticeship on a day release basis., that will see you achieve:

BSc (Hons) Commercial Management (Quantity Surveying), or equivalent QS Level 6 Diploma that is approved by the industry’s recognised professional bodies, meeting educational requirements for the professional bodies’ full membership or chartered status
Industry certificates in the Site Manager’s Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) and Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS)
Pastoral support throughout, a guaranteed permanent position and clear career path to realise your commercial career ambitions
