Role Overview:
As an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor at ROC, you will embark on a dynamic career path in the field of construction commercial management. This role is tailored for individuals who have a passion for construction industry, numbers, meticulous attention to detail, and a desire to learn the fundamentals of quantity surveying. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will gain hands-on experience and contribute to the successful commercial management on a variety of projects
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Cost Estimation: Collaborate with Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Manager to accurately estimate costs for materials, labour, and equipment required for construction projects.
* Budget Monitoring: Assist in the development and monitoring of project budgets, ensuring that expenditures align with approved budgets.
* Measurement and Valuation: Learn to take accurate measurements of work completed and evaluate work done by subcontractors and suppliers to facilitate accurate payment processing.
* Contract Administration: Support in the administration of construction contracts, including the review of contract terms and conditions.
* Tendering and Procurement: Participate in the tendering process, assisting with the preparation of tender documents, issuing invitations to tender, analysing tender returns and other procurement activities.
* Cost Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of cost reports, financial forecasts, and project progress reports.
* Risk Management: Assist in identifying and assessing potential risks related to cost and contractual issues, proposing mitigation strategies.
* Documentation: Maintain organized records of all commercial-related documentation, contracts, and correspondence.
* Quantity Surveying Software: Familiarize yourself with quantity surveying software and tools to enhance efficiency in cost management tasks.
About You:
We are seeking a meticulous and detail oriented individual with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with demonstrated numeracy and literacy skills, equivalent to at least A levels. * A minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths, with a strong aptitude for mathematics.
* Educated to A level standard.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

* Eagerness to learn, strong work ethic and a proactive approach to tasks.
* Basic knowledge of construction industry practices is a plus.
