Application Support Engineer | Cardiff | Hybrid
Location: Cardiff
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days in the office
Sector: Fintech / Financial Software
Role: Application Support Engineer / 2nd Line Support
Salary: Up to £29,000 + up to 20% annual bonus
We are recruiting for an Application Support Engineer to join an established fintech business operating in Cardiff.
You'll join the Engineering team, providing 2nd line support, investigating application and data issues, and working closely with Service Delivery and Engineering to resolve incidents.
The Role
· Provide 2nd line application support.
· Triage and investigate technical issues.
· Troubleshoot application and data problems.
· Use SQL to investigate and fix data issues.
· Track incidents through an issue management system.
· Escalate complex or urgent issues where required.
· Work closely with Engineering and Service Delivery.
· Support Web/PC-based applications.
· Work within an Agile development environment.
What We're Looking For
· Experience in Application or Technical Support.
· Working knowledge of Web/PC environments.
· Experience with Jira or similar.
· Experience with Bitbucket or similar.
· Strong SQL skills (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE/System procedures/System procedures).
· Experience with PowerShell or another scripting language.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent attention to detail.
· Clear communication skills.
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who enjoys getting to the root cause of technical issues rather than simply passing tickets on.
You don't need to tick every box. Strong technical fundamentals, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn are equally important.
