An exciting opportunity for an experienced Analytical Chemist to join an established R&D team of a global company. As an analytical chemist this is a hands-on laboratory-based role, ideal for someone who enjoys practical analytical chemistry and wants to remain technically focused rather than move into management or leadership in the near future.

As an analytical chemist you will provide analytical testing, technical expertise and investigative support across a range of customer, manufacturing and R&D requirements. As an experienced analytical chemist you will use a variety of analytical techniques to investigate issues, interpret results and provide clear technical conclusions and recommendations.

This role would particularly suit someone who is happy being hands-on in the laboratory and wants to continue developing their technical analytical chemistry expertise.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have a few years' experience working within a contract or analytical laboratory environment, together with a genuine interest in hands-on laboratory work.

* BSc in Chemistry or equivalent

* Previous experience working in an analytical chemistry or maybe food chemistry laboratory

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

* GC / GC-MS

* DSC

* FTIR

* Higher degree in analytical chemistry or a related subject

* Contract laboratory experience

* Food production or related laboratory environments

* Experience using Ion Chromatography (IC) and ICP-OES

* Strong general laboratory skills, including wet chemistry, preparation of volumetric standards and chemical selection/disposal

* Experience investigating and interpreting analytical results

* Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present scientific data

* Good IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

* Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing workloads

* A methodical, investigative and autonomous approach

* Good team-working skills and a strong commitment to safe laboratory working
