We are looking for an Approved Mental Health Professional Team Manager / Practice Lead to join the Adult Social Care AMHP Service.

About the Role:
The Adult Social Care AMHP Team Manager / Practice Lead will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Adult Social Care AMHP Service. The Service links directly to the Integrated Adult Social Care teams across Devon. The ASC AMHPs are accessible to all Adult Social Care teams, promoting; legal literacy, understanding of risk assessment in the context of the impact of mental disorder on the individual and how and when to request a Mental Health Act Assessment. The AMHP’s in the Adult Social Care AMHP Service work closely with the Devon Daytime assigned AMHP Service and support the daytime AMHP Duty rota.

The Adult Social Care AMHP Team Manager / Practice Lead has a variety of duties including having responsibility for the line management of the dedicated Adult Social care AMHPs, alongside supporting the wider daytime assigned AMHP Service duty Rota.

The post holder will also:
• Ensure the ASC AMHP Service Provides advice and support to community and county wide teams to develop the skills, competence and confidence required to support people who experience complex mental health issues, some of whom may lack capacity in relation to aspects of their care and support needs and are liable to be detained under the Mental Health Act, or, may become so.
• Ensure that relevant managers and AMHPs are aware of their responsibilities in relation to the Mental Health Act, policy, practice, and procedure.
• Contribute to the analysis of practice and performance in relation to the application of the Mental Health Act and associated AMHP work.
• In partnership with the specific AMHP Service Manager, lead and maintain service improvement with regard to the application of the Mental Health Act.
• Build and maintain links with wider Devon County Council Practice Leads with a view to developing best practice and continuous improvement across Integrated Adult Social Care.

About you:
You must be a qualified and appropriately registered Social Worker, Occupational therapist, first level nurse (mental health or learning disability) or Charted Psychologist with Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) status following successful approval by the Local Authority. Candidates’ must be able to provide evidence of their AMHP qualification and required post-qualifying AMHP refresher training as part of their application.

You will have experience in a previous management role or be looking for an opportunity to gain managerial experience. You will need to be able to, think innovatively, influence others, and create effective working relationships. You will have the skills and knowledge to support and supervise staff, provide sound consistent advice, and demonstrate good judgement.

Solid communication across all mediums (electronic, written, verbal) is essential with an ability to take account of the audience that is receiving the information. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
