SEND/SEMH Tutor - Ross-on-Wye & Surrounding Areas

Alternative Provision & EOTAS | Part-Time | September Start

Quantum Scholars is proud to be an approved provider on Herefordshire Council's Alternative Provision Framework, working closely with the local authority to support young people who are currently unable to access mainstream education.

We are currently recruiting for experienced and compassionate SEND/SEMH Tutors across Ross-on-Wye and the surrounding areas to provide personalised, one-to-one tuition and educational support to pupils accessing Alternative Provision or EOTAS (Education Otherwise Than At School).

This is an in-person role, with tuition delivered in pupils' homes or suitable community settings such as libraries. This is not an online tutoring position.

We are receiving regular referrals from Herefordshire Council for tuition commencing in September and are looking to build a team of dedicated tutors who are passionate about providing high-quality education and making a genuine difference to the lives of young people.

Tuition will be tailored to each pupil's individual needs, abilities and educational goals. Sessions may cover a range of curriculum areas, including English, Maths, Science and other subjects, with tutors who have a particular subject specialism especially encouraged to apply.

The role may involve:

Delivering engaging, personalised one-to-one tuition to pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
Planning and adapting lessons to suit each pupil's individual needs, abilities and learning outcomes.
Teaching a range of subjects, including English, Maths, Science and other curriculum areas where appropriate.
Delivering sessions within pupils' homes and community settings such as libraries.
Building positive and trusting relationships that encourage confidence, engagement and a positive attitude towards learning.
Supporting pupils who may have experienced barriers to accessing mainstream education.
Monitoring pupil progress and maintaining accurate records of tuition sessions.
Liaising with parents, carers, schools, local authority professionals and other relevant agencies where required.
Creating a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Helping pupils develop both academically and personally, supporting them to work towards their individual goals.

Essential requirements:

Experience working with pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
Previous experience delivering one-to-one tuition, teaching or educational support.
The ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised learning.
A patient, adaptable, nurturing and supportive approach.
Confidence working independently within pupils' homes and community settings.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
QTS is desirable but not essential.
A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Satisfactory professional references.
The right to work in the UK.

Safeguarding

Quantum Scholars is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to appropriate safeguarding and compliance checks, including an Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory professional references.

Why join us?

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide meaningful, individualised support to pupils who need it most, helping them re-engage with education and make progress in a way that works for them.

If you are an experienced education professional who is passionate about supporting young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs and would like to make a genuine difference through personalised Alternative Provision, we would love to hear from you.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy
