Interim Air Quality Officer
Location: London
Salary: £27.84 per hour umbrella
A central London Local Authority is currently seeking an Interim Air Quality Officer to join their team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Council’s mission to become greener by managing and enhancing air quality in the city. As an Air Quality Officer, you will play a crucial role in mitigating and reducing the impact of air pollution on public health and the environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Reviewing planning applications and their air quality assessments to ensure sites are air quality neutral or positive.
* Assisting in the smooth operation of the Council’s air quality monitoring network.
* Contributing to the implementation of the Council’s Air Quality Action Plan.
* Leading specific projects within the air quality subject area.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g., Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology, Geology, Civil Engineering, etc.).
* Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in conducting ambient air quality monitoring, modeling, and assessment, including assessing emissions from domestic and industrial combustion plants.
* Detailed knowledge and understanding of EU, national, and local environmental legislation and guidance related to air quality.
* Thorough understanding of air quality assessments.
* Experience using GIS-based databases and quantitative risk assessment modeling tools
