Salary: £23,655 - £25,133 (depending on experience)

To help us create amazing partnerships, we need amazing people. Canine Partners has an exciting opportunity for a Dog Trainer to join our Advanced Training team.

This is an incredible role at a prominent assistance dog charity where your role will be at the heart of our essential work that transforms lives every day.

What you will do:

As an Advanced Dog Trainer, you will play an integral role in creating partnerships by assessing, training, and placing assistance dogs to our beneficiaries. Using your outstanding dog training knowledge and skill you will build on the basic obedience skills learned by our dogs in their puppy homes to turn into life changing skills such as touching buttons, tugging open doors, retrieving dropped items, and more.

You will match dogs to their new partner and support the training and development of the partnership either on-site at our training centre or in the homes of our beneficiaries.

What we're looking for:

Strong knowledge of dog training and behaviour
Excellent ability to train and handle dogs
Good understanding of dog care and welfare
Ability to plan and carry out training sessions
Strong communication skills across all levels
Training, teaching or coaching skills
Good problem solving skills
Good administration and record keeping skills
Good ICT skills (MS Office, internet, email)
Knowledge or experience of working with people with disabilities (D)
You will pride yourself on your calm and flexible approach and ability to be compassionate and sensitive with everyone you work with. You will be a strong team player alongside being able to work on your own initiative.

This role benefits from working at our purpose-built training centre in the rural countryside of Osgathorpe, Leicestershire. There will be regular travel for this role to complete key tasks, therefore it is essential that you have a full driving licence or the ability to transport yourself in line with the requirements for the posts.
