About the Role

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker (Advanced Practitioner level) to join its Safeguarding & Support Team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and restorative local authority, managing complex safeguarding cases while making a positive impact on the lives of children and families.

The Safeguarding & Support Team works with:

Children in Need
Child Protection
Court proceedings
Adoption workAs a restorative local authority, we are committed to working in partnership with children, families, and partner agencies to achieve the best possible outcomes. We offer reflective supervision, prioritise staff wellbeing, and promote a strong and supportive team culture.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and respond to allocated safeguarding work in line with legislation, policies, and procedures.

Undertake assessments in accordance with the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families.

Develop and implement family-led restorative plans based on assessed needs.

Work collaboratively with children, young people, families, and partner agencies.

Promote participation and partnership working with children and their families.

Complete regular reviews of plans, recording outcomes and updating interventions accordingly.

Maintain accurate and timely electronic and manual case records.

Prepare detailed reports for statutory reviews, child protection conferences, panels, and court proceedings.

Participate actively in supervision, performance management, and professional development activities.

Essential Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.

Significant experience working within Children's Safeguarding Services.

Strong experience managing:

Child Protection cases

Children in Need cases

Court work

Ability to work effectively within a restorative practice framework.

Experience handling complex caseloads.
