One of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for a Project Manager (Construction). This is a temporary contract for 2 months with possible further extension based on budget and performance.
Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary
The successful post holder will assist the Health and Safety Manager in supporting the work of the Directorate’s Health & Safety Team and promoting a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation. They will also assist all employees to take responsibility for health and safety issues for employees they manage.
Duties and Responsibilities
* To provide day to day general health and safety support and advice to employees and managers within the Council.
* Preparation of reports setting out management information and statistical data with regard to fire risk assessments, asbestos re-inspections, accident statistics, DSE Assessments and other performance related information, which will require analysis, interpretation and conclusions to be presented to Head of Service, external bodies and contractors to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
* To progress the development and implementation of the fire safety (and fire risk assessment) programme across all Service Area's working with the developers and local managers to improve, progress and embed the system.
* To challenge existing Procedures and approaches and introducing innovative ideas to improve service provision leading increase efficiency.
* To coordinate and organise H&S related training and maintain a recording system. This will include booking of rooms and ensuring employees and managers attend the appropriate training as required.
* To assist in the preparation of training presentations on health and safety related topics as may be required.
* To assist in the preparation of asbestos and other health and safety related reports to a number of audiences, including Elected Members and Senior Management Teams in line with the Councils Health and Safety Audit Plan.
* To enter asbestos surveys onto the Council’s asbestos management database and to maintain the council’s database up to date upon periodic re-inspections.
* To provide support across the Health and Safety team as required, to include dealing with written enquiries, Freedom of Information requests and invoicing, as directed by the Health and Safety Manager.
* To assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of health and safety policies and procedures.
* To manage small projects for the Health and Safety team with guidance from the Health and Safety Manager. May also be required to contribute to larger projects within the team by leading in a specific area.
