Teaching Assistant – Administering Medication Trained

Location: Cardiff
Setting: Specialist SEN School
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, until August 2027
Salary: £475 - £500 weekly pay

We are looking for a caring, patient and reliable Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist SEN school in Cardiff. The school supports primary-aged pupils with autism spectrum conditions, as well as significant sensory, social communication and learning needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who has completed Administering Medication training and is confident supporting pupils with medical needs within an education, care or support setting.

The successful candidate will play an important role in helping pupils access learning safely, confidently and as independently as possible. The role will involve working closely with teaching staff, families and relevant professionals to ensure individual needs are met throughout the school day.

As part of the role, you may be required to support a pupil with diabetes care in line with their Individual Healthcare Plan. This could include monitoring blood glucose levels, recognising signs of hypo/hyperglycaemia, supporting with snacks and mealtimes, maintaining accurate records and following agreed school procedures.

The successful applicant must have up-to-date Administering Medication training and be confident following medical care plans and safeguarding procedures. Experience supporting pupils with diabetes would be beneficial, but the key requirement is confidence, attention to detail and a calm, professional approach when supporting pupils with additional medical needs.

The ideal candidate will have:

Administering Medication training

Experience working with children or young people

A calm, caring and patient approach

Confidence following Individual Healthcare Plans

Good attention to detail and record-keeping skills

Experience within SEN, ALN, education, care or medical support settings

A reliable and professional attitude

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
