Location: Rochdale
Salary: £32,000 – £36,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm, 37.5 hours per week
Benefits: 6% employer pension contribution + support towards CIMA, ACCA and further accounting qualifications

We are recruiting for an Accounts Supervisor to join an established finance team in Rochdale. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to step into a supervisory position, managing the day-to-day workload of an Accounts Assistant while developing their experience across month-end accounting, reconciliations, credit control, management reporting, financial controls and audit.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounts Supervisor will provide day-to-day supervision and practical support to the Accounts Assistant, while also taking responsibility for a range of operational accounting activities.

This role would suit an Accounts Senior, Senior Accounts Assistant, Assistant Accountant or experienced Accounts professional who is ready to take on more responsibility and develop towards a wider management accounting or finance role.

Accounts Supervisor – Key Responsibilities
Supervise and provide day-to-day guidance and support to the Accounts Assistant.
Organise the transactional accounting workload and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Review accounting work, investigate discrepancies and escalate unusual or material issues.
Provide practical cover across purchase ledger, sales ledger, banking and general accounting.
Manage day-to-day credit control, customer account monitoring and routine credit approvals.
Support supplier payments, customer invoicing, credit notes and bank reconciliations.
Prepare allocated month-end reconciliations, schedules and financial analysis.
Support management accounts, budget reporting, cash-flow forecasting and KPI reporting.
Prepare information for financial analysis and ad hoc investigations.
Support VAT preparation, fixed asset records, audit requirements and financial controls.
Maintain accurate accounting records, approvals and supporting documentation.
Assist with accounting procedures, process maps and control documentation.
Support finance projects, system improvements, testing and implementation.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reduce unnecessary manual work.
Develop knowledge of SAP and financial reporting systems.
Work closely with the Accounting Manager on accounting, reporting and process improvement activities.Accounts Supervisor – Skills & ExperienceThe successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous experience in an accounts or finance role covering transactional accounting, reconciliations and month-end.
Experience supervising, mentoring, coaching or providing day-to-day guidance to colleagues.
Strong knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control and bank reconciliations.
The ability to review financial information, identify discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution.
Good Excel and financial systems skills.
Excellent attention to detail with a methodical and organised approach.
Good communication skills and the confidence to work with colleagues across the business.
The ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet deadlines.
AAT qualification, studying towards an accounting qualification, or equivalent practical accounting experience.Desirable ExperienceExperience of any of the following would be advantageous:

Management accounts
VAT preparation
Cash-flow forecasting
Credit insurance or finance schemes
Audit support
Financial control testing
Accounting procedures and process improvement
SAP or a similar accounting systemCareer Development
