Description:
Our client, a well-established commercial organisation, is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Assistant to join its finance department on a full-time basis. The role offers a salary of £32,000 to £35,000, 30 days’ paid holiday including bank holidays, a pension scheme and an allocated parking space.
The Accounts Payable Assistant will manage supplier invoices, payment runs, reconciliations and financial records across a group structure. This opportunity would suit an organised and proactive accounts professional with at least five years’ accounts payable experience and the ability to manage competing priorities accurately.
Key duties:
* Processing supplier and purchase invoices, including scanning, coding, distributing for approval and accurately recording transactions on the accounting system.
* Reconciling supplier statements, investigating discrepancies and chasing missing invoices or supporting documentation.
* Preparing weekly and monthly payment runs and responding to supplier or internal queries by telephone and email.
* Managing credit card and petty cash records, including collating documentation, posting expenditure and completing month-end reconciliations.
* Monitoring and maintaining the debtors ledger, following up outstanding balances where required.
* Reviewing utility contracts ahead of renewal and comparing available options to support competitive pricing.
* Collating information for environmental and carbon reporting requirements.
* Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc accounting and administrative duties.
Key skills and experience:
* At least five years’ accounts payable experience.
* Previous experience of group accounting.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
* Confident using Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong customer service skills.
* Accurate, proactive and helpful approach.
* Flexible, punctual and professional.
