Assistant Accountant, Maidenhead (Flexi), £28,000-£32,000+ Study support (AAT)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Accountant to join our clients finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, exceptional organisational skills, and a commitment to accuracy. You will be responsible for processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and communicating effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate payments.
Responsibilities for the Assistant Accountant, role:
Assist with full-cycle accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Work closely with the financial accountant to support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Prepare and file VAT returns and assist in compliance with VAT schemes.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure adherence to accounting principles and regulations.
Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and procedures.
Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and projects as needed.
Qualifications for the Assistant Accountant role:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (not essential but preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Xero etc)
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
