We are continuing to expand our South Coast region and we are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our friendly team. This is based in our fabulous office in Calmore with it's own in house gym, great transport links and a drive through Starbucks next door for your caffeine hit. 

You will working on predominantly residential and occasional commercial construction projects.  The requirements of this role will cover the whole of our Southern England operation and will support the finance function to complete monthly Purchase Ledger & Subcontract Ledger responsibilities as well as supporting the Accounts Supervisor in day-to-day activities.  The role will involve ensuring the requirements of the finance function are performed to the highest standard, tying into payment schedules and other key dates.

What you will do

Organise/collate all incoming invoices, matching to goods received notes.

Ensure correct approvals obtained prior to processing in line with the regional Authority Matrix.

Regular interaction with commercial and production departments to obtain authorisations and resolve queries.

Inputting invoice details onto our financial management/accounting system.

Gaining a strong and working understanding of VAT in Housebuilding across multiple disciplines.

Undertake monthly supplier reconciliations, addressing/resolving email and telephone queries as required.

Generate monthly batch payments working alongside the finance team to maintain our prompt payment policy.

Compiling reports as required; organise/collate back up to support payment runs; monitor and clear down unallocated cash.

Organise/archive paid invoices/credit notes accordingly.

What you will have

Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger/Accounts Assistant role is required.

Experience working with Subcontractors beneficial but not mandatory.

Knowledge of the construction industry would also be an advantage but not essential.

There is no minimum qualification required, however the successful candidate will need to be numerate, organised, diligent, methodical and able to work as part of a busy team.

Proficient IT skills including Excel, Word and Outlook or alternative spreadsheet, documentary and organisational software.

Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
