We’re seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our Finance function, supporting a business that contributes to some of the UK’s most exciting civil engineering projects, and make a real impact in a dynamic environment.

Full-time hybrid role working Tuesday–Thursday in our Thame office, with Monday and Friday working from home.

Duties to Include

• Creating and maintaining supplier and customer accounts, including payment details, terms and supporting documentation

• Processing and coding supplier invoices, investigating discrepancies and resolving queries

• Preparing supplier payment runs for approval and processing approved payments

• Checking and processing employee expenses in line with company policies

• Administering company cards and reconciling transactions against receipts and supporting records

• Maintaining cashbooks and completing bank reconciliations

• Allocating customer receipts, investigating unidentified payments and supporting debtor queries and credit applications

• Reconciling purchase ledger balances and resolving outstanding supplier account issues

• Supporting month-end close, overhead reporting and forecasting with accurate financial information

• Assisting with audits, supplier compliance reviews and improvements to finance processes and controls

Candidate attributes

• Confident using Excel and accounting systems

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

• Previous experience in purchase ledger or an accounts support role, including cashbooks and bank reconciliations

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet payment and month-end deadlines

• Clear communication skills and a proactive approach to resolving queries

• Ability to adapt to changes quickly and work collaboratively

• Integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information

• Eager to learn and develop broader finance skills
