The Opportunity: Reporting to the Directors of a progressive and pioneering business, this lead Accountant’s position has become available as a direct result of business expansion. The role requires a proven team player who can operate within an agile, dynamic, and forward-thinking team environment. You will be responsible for a wide range of financial and operational tasks to keep the business running smoothly and efficiently.

The Company: A long established and market-leading business supplying farmers and landowners across the whole of the UK. They are a forward thinking, professional organisation that employs over 35 people across the business. Our client fosters a collaborative office environment. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to contribute creative ideas that shape the company's future strategic direction.

Role Responsibilities:

* Preparation of monthly and annual management accounts using Sage software

* To oversee Sales and Purchase ledgers

* Supervision of general book-keeping and business records

* VAT returns, incl. foreign transactions and taxes

* Banking, including foreign currency purchase and transactions

* Attending management meetings, reporting, and taking minutes

* Overall responsibility for payroll, and processing where required

* Extensive use of dedicated business management software, which will be taught in-house.

* Assisting and supporting other departments where necessary

Skills you will need:
Essential:

* Relevant accounting experience and preferably a relevant AAT qualifications

* Proven track record of accounting and book-keeping procedures, familiarity with Sage software

* Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office software

* Able to show thoroughness and attention to detail

* Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner

* To be forward-thinking, flexible, and adaptable to respond to change and swift decision making

* The desire for continuous improvement and personal development to remain up to date with legislation, accounting, and regulatory developments

* Ability to seek improved systems and processes of work

* To be a proven team player, willing and able to operate within an agile, dynamic, forward thinking team.

Desirable:

* Working knowledge of payroll

* Familiarity with import and export procedures and regulations
