Job Title: Head of Physical Education (PE)

Location: Lewisham, SE London (excellent transport links)

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: MPS/UPS + Inner London

The job: Our clients are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Physical Education to lead our PE department. The ideal candidate will design and implement a comprehensive PE curriculum, promote physical fitness and wellbeing, and inspire students to reach their full potential both academically and athletically.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and manage the PE department, offering guidance, support, and mentorship to staff.

* Line manage three Teachers, reporting into the Deputy Head

* Develop and implement an engaging PE curriculum that caters to all students.

* Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued.

* Organize and oversee extracurricular sports activities, competitions, and events.

* Monitor student progress and provide feedback to support continuous improvement.

* Collaborate with other departments to integrate physical activity into the broader school community.

* Stay current with developments in PE pedagogy and incorporate best practices into teaching.

* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and safeguarding policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

* A degree in Physical Education or a related field.

* Proven experience teaching PE at the secondary level with a track record of improving student achievement.

* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Up-to-date knowledge of curriculum developments and assessment strategies in PE.

* Experience managing budgets and resources effectively.
