Transport Planner (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)

Location: Nottingham,
Salary: DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (40 hours per week)

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Transport Planner to join our operations team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a fast-paced role responsible for coordinating vehicle movements, deliveries, collections, installations and maintenance activities, ensuring customers receive a high-quality service at all times.

Working closely with drivers, mobile fitters, depot teams and customers, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient planning and execution of daily operational activities across a varied fleet.

This position would suit an individual with experience in transport planning, logistics coordination or fleet operations who enjoys managing multiple priorities and delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan and coordinate daily transport activities, ensuring deliveries, collections and installations are completed efficiently.

* Maximise vehicle utilisation and route efficiency across the fleet.

* Coordinate driver schedules and operational workloads.

* Liaise with customers regarding deliveries, collections, breakdowns and service requirements.

* Work closely with mobile fitters and operational teams to schedule maintenance and service activities.

* Manage customer enquiries and provide timely updates on operational activities.

* Respond quickly to operational issues and find effective solutions to minimise disruption.

* Support quotation requests and customer project requirements where necessary.

* Ensure transport activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures.

* Maintain accurate planning records and operational documentation.

* Build strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.

Fleet Responsibility

You will be responsible for planning and coordinating a fleet that includes:

* HGV vehicles

* Tanker vehicles

* HIAB vehicles

* Service vehicles

* 4x4 support vehicles

Experience in vehicle planning, routing and resource allocation will be highly advantageous.

About You

We are looking for someone who can confidently balance customer service with operational planning requirements.

You will ideally have:

* Previous experience in transport planning, logistics coordination or fleet operations.

* Strong customer service and communication skills.

* Excellent organisational and planning abilities.

* Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

* Strong IT and administrative skills.

* The ability to build relationships with customers, drivers and operational teams.

* A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem solving.

Desirable Experience

* Experience within the hire, rental, fleet, construction support or equipment sectors.

* Experience coordinating field-based engineers or service teams.

* Previous supervisory or team coordination experience.
