1:1 Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated and supportive 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work with pupils in the Gosport area. This rewarding role involves providing individualised support to students who require additional assistance to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential within the classroom.

Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will support a pupil on a 1:1 basis, helping them remain engaged in lessons, develop positive learning habits, and make progress both academically and socially.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with young people and wants to make a meaningful difference in education.

The Role:

Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day
Support learning, engagement, and participation during lessons
Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and resilience
Assist with classroom activities and learning tasks
Support positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
Work closely with teachers and support staff to meet individual needs
Monitor progress and provide feedback where appropriate
Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently

Ideal Candidate:

Experience working with children or young people
Patient, supportive, and nurturing approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to build positive and trusting relationships
Adaptable and responsive to individual pupil needs
Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team
Backgrounds in education, care, youth work, coaching, or support work welcomed
Passionate about supporting young people to succeed

Contract Details:

Position: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Gosport
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full‑time, term‑time
Pay Rate: £14.25 - £15.66 per hour
Key Stages: Primary / Secondary

Experience, Training & Safeguarding:

Experience supporting children or young people desirable
SEN experience beneficial but not essential
Safeguarding training can be provided
Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to obtain one)
