We are looking for a caring, resilient and enthusiastic 1:1 Support Mentor to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Preston
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people who may have faced challenges within mainstream education. You will provide dedicated 1:1 support and small group mentoring, helping students build confidence, develop positive relationships and overcome barriers to learning.
The Role
As a 1:1 Support Mentor, you will work closely with individual students and small groups to provide personalised support and encouragement.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing tailored 1:1 support for students with SEMH needs.
* Supporting students in small group sessions to develop learning, social skills and confidence.
* Building positive, trusting relationships with young people.
* Helping students manage emotions, regulate behaviour and develop coping strategies.
* Encouraging engagement with learning and school routines.
* Supporting students to develop resilience, independence and self-esteem.
* Acting as a positive role model and trusted adult.
* Working alongside teachers and the wider pastoral team to support individual needs.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
* Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs, additional needs or challenging behaviour.
* Is patient, calm and able to build strong relationships.
* Has the confidence to support students on a 1:1 basis and within small groups.
* Can provide consistent boundaries alongside a caring and supportive approach.
* Has excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
* Is passionate about helping young people achieve their potential.
Previous experience as a Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Support Worker, Sports Coach or Residential Support Worker would be highly beneficial.
What We Offer
* The opportunity to work within a supportive SEMH school environment.
* A rewarding role where you can make a meaningful impact every day.
* A supportive team committed to helping young people succeed.
* Opportunities to develop your skills and experience within education and pastoral support.
* The chance to be a positive influence in a young person's life.
If you are passionate about supporting young people and want to make a genuine difference through 1:1 mentoring and small group support, we would love to hear from you.
