Pertemps are working alongside Essex County Council & South Essex University to find a replacement Supporter/Coach/Mentor to work alongside a male university student as he completes his final academic term. 

This roll is designed around a supportive and adaptive function of mentoring. Our exisiting member of support will be moving on within the next month. He has provided the pupil with complete support, emotional and academic guidance over the last two university terms, interacting with family, members of university faculty, and other students. 

We are looking for someone who has an understanding of 1 to 1 support, is not afraid to utilise patience and a keen academic mindset (with knowledge on Autism, Complex Needs, Selective Mutism, and Anxiety) to guide the pupil through the rest of the academic term (and likely into September 2024 also). 

This is specifically a THREE DAY position, Monday to Wednesday. 

You will initially spend a session getting to know the pupil and his immediate family, understanding a bit more about his personal interests, the work he does at university, and the schedule that had been created for him. 

A typical day will have you arrive at the University before lectures to meet with the young man - enjoy a coffee or talk about the plan for the day, catch up about the weekend etc. Then support him throughout the university day, helping him interact with other students, being effective with your time to get work done during break periods, and helping him engage within the classroom setting. 

Pertemps Ideal Candidate:

- Already experienced at 1 to 1 learning for ages 18+
- Knowledge of ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Social Emotional Mental Health, Selective Speech
- Knowledge of psychological development 
- Degree level background or higher preferred 
- University is on public transport routes (but personal vehicle is ok) 
- Available Monday Tuesday Wednesday every week from mid May 2024 up to Mid July 2024 minimum 
- Understanding of examination practice and revision schedules 
- Patient disposition and willingness to reach positive outcomes (kind and open minded)
- English fluency is essential

University hour are typically 9am to 4pm with many free periods and opportunities to break. 
This role is also paid even when lectures are cancelled and work is done virtually with professors
