Job Title: 1-1 Teaching Assistant
Contract: Fixed Term - Full Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Up to £21,041 per Annum

This is a fixed-term position linked to a specific pupil and will remain in place while the pupil attends the school.

Role Purpose

The post holder will assist in the educational and social development of a pupil (on 1:1 basis) with special educational needs, under the direction of the SENDCo and teaching staff.

Key Responsibilities

Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their individual targets.

Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor progress against agreed objectives.

Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCo and external professionals to support the pupil's learning and wellbeing.

Promote independence, confidence, social skills and positive behaviour.

Assist with classroom preparation, learning resources and maintaining an engaging learning environment.

Support the pupil's emotional, social and personal development both inside and outside the classroom.

Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews of pupil progress.

Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times.

About You

Qualified Teaching Assistant with a good standard of English and Maths.

Experience supporting children in an educational setting, ideally within an SEN environment.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with pupils, parents and colleagues.

Warm, patient and nurturing approach, with a strong understanding of pupil wellbeing and pastoral needs.

Creative, proactive and able to use initiative to support learning and engagement.

Organised, flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and individual pupil needs.

Committed to safeguarding, confidentiality and maintaining high professional standards.

Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.

Willing to undertake further training and professional development.

Desirable:

Additional SEN-related qualifications or training.

Evidence of ongoing CPD.

Good ICT skills and confidence using educational technology.

Experience working with external professionals and implementing pupil support plans.
