Beaumont College, Carlisle is a very special place and we are seeking to extend our work-family in response to increased demand for places at the college. To equip, enable and empower some of the most vulnerable special school leavers, with a diagnosis of autism and/or ADHD,  change management is key, as is understanding the impact of demands - and designing learning to take this into into account is so important.  

Further Education Teacher (SEND - Autism / ADHD)
We are seeking to appoint a teacher with a passion to support a  and new provision which offers this designated group of learners the capable environment they need to feel safe, emotionally regulated and ready to learn. They will have access to individualized spaces, and when ready can progress to be part of the wider pan disability college community. And on the days that is too much - they have access to the familiar setting they need to regulate. 

Your team will include teachers, tutors and learning support colleagues. On a regular, you will also work with a skilled and experienced team of student support workers, with small class sizes and high levels of support. Out pathways are highly personalised and alongside Preparing for Adult Hood, learners will each have a bespoke package of health and support interventions including physio and hydro therapy, speech and language therapy and occupational therapy, access to a skilled and experienced team of assistive technologist, and positive behaviour practitioners.

The post holder should be physically able to keep up with our often active students and appreciate the importance positive behavior planning and support. Our goal is low to no physical intervention and we have are developing a trauma informed ethos to PBS. 
Vocational themes of learning support students to make progress, both educationally and in self-advocacy, confidence, self-belief and resilience in preparation for life beyond college in busy and fulfilling destinations.
